❋ Protecting the legacy of the Flat Tops.
To ensure that the native Colorado River Cutthroat trout thrives for another century, Trappers Lake and the surrounding wilderness follow strict conservation guidelines.
Artificial Flies & Lures Only To protect the health of our trout, bait (worms, powerbait, etc.) is strictly prohibited. Only artificial flies and lures may be used in Trappers Lake and most surrounding wilderness waters.
Catch & Release Excellence While some area waters allow for keeping a "limit," we strongly encourage catch and release—especially for our native Cutthroats. If you do keep fish, please strictly adhere to the posted bag limits at the trailhead.
The "Cradle" Etiquette As a motorized-free zone, we keep the noise down and the water clean. Please practice "Leave No Trace" principles—whatever you pack in to your fishing spot, please pack back out.
Know Your Water Different lakes in the Flat Tops have different specific rules. Before you head out, check the map at the Lodge or the CPW (Colorado Parks and Wildlife) signage at the trailhead for the most current local regulations.
Don't let the big one get away. Book Your Cabin and start your wilderness fishing adventure.
Reconnect with your body and mind as you escape the noise of everyday life.
