Horseback Riding
Ride Through the Cradle of Wilderness
You and your group will experience a trail ride to an alpine lake with your required TLL Wrangler(s). Along the way, you will be crossing rivers and streams, viewing spectacular scenery and possibly riding through free-range cattle.
Two person minimum is required.-
Best for: Beginners, families, and young riders.
The Experience: The perfect introduction to horseback riding. This gentle, slow-paced ride keeps you close to the lodge while offering beautiful views and a taste of the mountain trails. It’s designed to be fun, relaxed, and completely stress-free for first-time riders and kids.

Best for: Intermediate riders and adventurous beginners looking for more.
The Experience: Step it up a notch. This ride takes you further into the wilderness, climbing higher for sweeping views of the surrounding peaks and alpine meadows. You’ll navigate slightly more varied terrain, cross mountain streams, and experience the quiet beauty of the backcountry.
$125 per person

Best for: Intermediate to experienced riders wanting more of a journey.
The Experience: Pack your camera and prepare for a classic Colorado high-country adventure. We’ll ride deep into the wilderness, navigating rugged trails to reach a spectacular destination—like a remote alpine lake or a panoramic overlook. We’ll take a break to let the horses rest, stretch our legs, and soak in the stillness before heading back.
$200 per person

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age is 8 years old (the horse will be led by a wrangler)
For the safety of your child we do not allow any double riding.
Guests younger than 18 are required to wear a helmet at all times. TLL provides helmets.
Guests weighing over 220 lbs may not be able to ride dependent upon horse availability.
More human weight requires a larger horse- we have a limited number of large horses-if they are unavailable, the ride is unavailable
RECOMMENDATIONS
Long pants
Sneakers or cowboy boots
Bug spray, sunblock & water bottle
Jacket appropriate for the weather - conditions can be extreme
NO high heels, sandals, clogs or heavily treaded hiking boots. NO BACKPACKS.
All rides are guided, as required by the Forest Service and our insurance company.
